Bratislavský hrad (Bratislava Castle) and statue of Svatopluk I, king of Moravia, Bratislava, Slovakia.
Its construction was started during the X century. It is located on top of a rocky hill of the Carpathians, next to the Danube river. Its 4 towers are considered as a city symbol.
It was burned down by accident in 1811 by garrison soldiers and it was until 1930 that its reconstruction was planned.
In my opinion it’s a place that’s definitely worth a visit. Even though it’s not as spectacular as other castles in Europe like Leeds’ or Neuschwanstein’s, there’s no doubt that it has a certain mystical touch that only the places in eastern Europe can offer.
